Receipts. Results. Representation.

Darryl, a dedicated husband and father of three, combines firsthand Lansing policy experience as a former State Senate, District 3 staffer with a strong accounting/business background. He is also the founder of 501(c)(3) nonprofit SLS Detroit, and currently serves on the national board of directors for buildOn Inc. Darryl has partnered with organizations across the State of Michigan to promote youth development and family opportunity.

Husband. Father. Community Leader.

As founder of SLS Detroit, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Darryl has created service, leadership, and skills-building opportunities for young people across Detroit. Through partnerships with organizations such as buildOn and the Horatio Williams Foundation, he has helped design mentorship and leadership pathways that keep youth engaged, empowered, and on track to succeed.
From large-scale service projects with community and labor partners to speaking directly with students about purpose and civic responsibility, Darryl is known as a leader who shows up, listens, and does the work. His story and impact have been highlighted by outlets including Hour Detroit and Michigan State University.

Now, Darryl is running for the Michigan House of Representatives in District 9, a seat rooted in the same neighborhoods he has long served through Senate District 3. By seeking to represent House District 9, he is deepening his commitment to the very communities where he has worked as a staffer, organizer, and nonprofit leader, demonstrating that his service has always been and will remain centered on the people of his city.
His priorities for District 9 include strengthening public schools, expanding youth opportunity, investing in affordable housing, supporting small businesses, ensuring clean air and water, advancing universal childcare, and creating an economy where Detroit families can thrive, not just get by. For Darryl, this campaign is not a starting point but the next step in a lifelong mission to make sure the people who built Detroit are the ones who benefit most from its future
